Hi, I’m Kelly — and this is Guided by Gabriel.
Inspired by my nonverbal autistic son, this blog is where I share the quiet, powerful lessons he teaches me about presence, healing, and inner wisdom.
I started this when Gabriel was seven, as a way to listen more deeply — to him, and to myself. My hope is that these stories help you reconnect with your own voice, heal old and new wounds, and remember that the answers you seek are already within you.
Below is a moment of the wonder that you can see in his eyes captured during our trip to San Francisco in October of 2019. I didn’t know it then that this precious soul would change me completely just by being his mom.

I’m a full-time working mom, homeschooling my son Gabriel, who is nonverbal and autistic. Life with him is equal parts challenging, beautiful, and unexpected.
I started Guided by Gabriel to document the quiet wisdom I’ve learned from our daily life together. The name comes from the idea that both “journey” and “journal” come from the same root—each day is part of the path, and writing helps me reflect on it.
On this blog, I share honest reflections, helpful insights, and moments that have shaped the way I see parenting, communication, and growth. You won’t find perfection here—but you’ll find purpose, love, and lessons that matter.
Thanks for being here. I hope something you read helps you feel seen, supported, or simply less alone.
